In the near future, Dominica hopes to launch a new ferry service, providing transport between several of the Caribbean islands, including Martinique.
The announcement came in June of 2011, citing the increased interest by passengers of L'Express Des Iles for more services. Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and St. Lucia will soon benefit from thrice weekly ferry services, while weekend charters will also be available for Antigua, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Martin, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
There is no word of a schedule as of yet, and although the original launch date was set at October of 2011, there appears to have been some delays. Prices have not been released as of yet, though sources have confirmed that the prices will be lower than most other ferries in the Caribbean. What is known about Jean's Ferry is that is carries 137 passengers at a time.
