When traveling to most places outside of your home country, you have to have the necessary paperwork to get into the country. Vacationing in Martinique requires that visitors bring certain documents and identification before enjoying all of the all of the beauty and charm of the island.
Citizens of the United States, Canada, and Europe are required to show proof of citizenship before entering Martinique. Although there are several acceptable forms of proof of citizenship, it is recommended that travelers have a valid passport while visiting the island. Other documents that can serve as proof of United States citizenship are:
A certified copy of your birth certificate (must have a raised seal) accompanied by a government issued photo I.D. such as a driver's license
An official U.S. Government document verifying you U.S. citizenship
Certificate of Citizenship
Certificate of Naturalization
Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. citizen
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Europe, and Japan are also required to present a passport to visit Martinique, but do not need a visa. Vacationers who are citizens of countries other than these may need to have a visa as well as a passport, and should check with their local embassy or customs office. Passports allow visitors to remain on the island for up to 90 days without a visa. Along with your passport, or visa if required, travelers will have to provide a round-trip ticket as proof of return from the island. There is no entry fee to visit the island.

The set back in getting married while on Martinique is that couples have to reside on the island for at least a month before a marriage certificate will be issued, so it may be best to get married elsewhere and spend your honeymoon on this beautiful island.
