While Martinique may feel like a part of France at times, it is on Atlantic Standard Time along with much of the Caribbean. This places the island a full 5 or 6 hours behind the local time in Paris and much of Europe.

Atlantic Standard Time is one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time and cities like New York and Atlanta. Martinique, however, does not observe daylight savings time, meaning that when the United States is observing daylight savings time, Eastern Standard Time matches Atlantic Standard Time. Atlantic Standard Time is 4 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
